Many seem to struggle with anxiety including myself, so I want to offer those who do tips to help you surrender your anxieties to God. The good news is that God is bigger than our anxieties! We might not be able to handle them ourselves but that doesn’t mean that God cannot.

How to Surrender Your Anxiety to God

Pray about it.

The Bible tells us to pray over everything. This means that even our anxieties and worries we must pray over them. Ask God to take your anxieties and worries away. Ask Him to fill you with His peace and comfort. Request that He would show you what you need to remove from your life to have less anxiety. Surrender your anxiety at the Lord’s feet and trust that He will take care of it. Prayer can work miracles in our life so if you are struggling with anxiety the first step is to pray.

Prayer for Anxiety

Lord, I pray for anyone who is reading this post that is dealing with anxiety. I pray that you would provide them with your peace and comfort. I ask that you take their anxiety away and replace it with your love and peace. I ask that you show them what steps they need to take to let go of their anxieties. Put Bible verses in their minds and show them who they should reach out to talk to. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Memorize or keep scripture available.

Knowing God’s promises to us can help relieve our anxiety. The Bible is filled with many Bible verses that talk about anxiety and how to handle our anxiety. So, use it! Take time to memorize scripture that can help you when you are struggling with worry or anxiety. If you are not good at memorizing, make sure to have scripture accessible and a great way to do this is by getting a Bible app on your phone. The Bible app that I use is the YouVersion app. YouVersion has all of the Bible translations and there are easy ways to highlight and store your Bible verses.

Bible Verses to Highlight or Memorize

  1. Philippians 4:6-7
  2. Matthew 6:25-34
  3. Psalms 94:19

Remember it is okay to Google Bible verses if you are unsure where to look for other Bible verses to help with your anxieties.

Find a trusted person to talk to.

When our anxiety takes over, having someone to talk to can help us a lot. Find a trusted spiritual friend or family member that you can talk to about it. This will help you make sure that they will offer you Biblical advice. Sometimes we just need to get out everything that we are struggling with to help ease our fears and worries.

Journal

Just like talking to a trusted friend journaling helps us get our fears and worries out. Sometimes we just have too much rattling around in our brain and removing it can help clear some space for us to think.

Remove certain foods or caffeine from diet.

When I was struggling with a lot of anxiety and panic attacks removing caffeine and sugar helped me a lot. Look at your diet and see if anything that you are eating or drinking could be making your anxiety worse.

Do not let anxiety creep in when you do not know what the future holds, instead remember the hope and comfort that the Lord can and will offer you. If you seek the Lord out in your time of anxiety, He will ease it or take it all away from you. God can change anything in your life even when it comes to your anxiety. If your anxiety feels too big for God to take away that is the enemy speaking. The Lord can work miracles! Trust that He would do a miracle in your own life.
