It is important to share your testimony because it could not only help others, but it could also help yourself. When God is calling you to do something you should do it and the Bible tells us to share our testimonies! Do not be scared because God is with you!
My Testimony
When I was younger, we were the people who went to church on Easter and Christmas Eve. I was told there was a God, but I didn’t understand who God was or what a relationship with Him looked like. I didn’t know how to pray, and I knew none of the Bibe besides the verses I was told here and there in Sunday school. I knew about God, but I did not have a relationship with Him.
Now, as I got older, I still wasn’t sure who God was or how to build a relationship with Him, but I continued to pray and that was the extent of it until I met Ethan, my husband. At the time we were dating and he wanted me to attend church with him so I could see him play in his praise band. I found it really cool to see Ethan praise God through his worship team, but I still wasn’t sure where I stood in my own faith. Also, a majority of the time I attended church I fell asleep in the pew because I did not find it very interesting and on top of it I would drive two hours to attend with Ethan.
Eventually, Ethan and I attended a different church for the first time because he didn’t have to play on his worship team that weekend. When we were at this new church the message felt like it was written for me and it felt like God was speaking straight to me. It felt like this preacher was singling me out in the crowd and sharing my story with everyone because the message spoke so deeply to me and my past. After that church service I knew there was no doubt that God existed.
After that I was unsure of how to grow in my faith, but I knew God was real, so I was one step closer in my faith. Then I met a friend of mine, and she changed my faith for the better. She lived out her faith so incredibly and was not scared to show others that she was a true believer of Jesus. I asked her so many questions, sometimes she had the answers and sometimes she didn’t. Eventually she led me to the Bible, and I began to read it which helped me to take bigger steps in my faith.
Once Ethan and I moved up to Wisconsin, that is when I began to grow in my faith even more. We began to attend church more frequently and I began to get involved in activities and groups with my church. The pastor pushed me to take my faith more seriously and I joined a small group because of him that helped me grow immensely in my faith. Since then, I have joined multiple Bible studies and now even lead one. I also make sure to spend daily time with the Lord, so I continue to grow.
God worked a miracle in my life. I was the girl who fell asleep in church and questioned if God was real and now, I am not afraid to sit front row at church. I am sharing my faith online and leading Bible studies. I was a mess, and God has helped me feel like less of a mess. He has changed my life and He can change yours too!
Importance of Sharing Your Testimony
Inspiration and Encouragement
You could help someone when you share your testimony. If someone has a similar story to yours, they could see how the Lord changed you and then want to begin their walk with God. If God could change you, they could see that God could also change them for the better too. It shows others that there are ways to overcome the challenges they face since you have overcome the ones that you have faced with Gods help.
Create Change
By sharing your testimony, you could change people’s lives for the better. If you were in a bad spot and you share with someone who else might be in a bad spot they might want to make changes to their own lives. People could give up bad habits and stop making bad decisions if they can see that someone else stopped doing those things and are doing better in life.
Show that Everyone is Important
Through your story it can show others that everyone is important to God, even them! It can be easy to think that you are unworthy and unloved but when someone hears your testimony about how God loved you through your circumstances, they can see that they too are important to God and that God loves them too.
Conclusion
It might be scary, and you might struggle at first but I highly encourage you to share your testimony. You never know who you might help through it! If you feel like your testimony is boring or dull and you question how anyone could be helped through it know that everyone has a story to share with the world. Your testimony might seem boring to you but could help someone immensely.
